Christian Fleing has been working at DLR since 1998. He currently holds the position of Head of Combustor Testing in the Institute of Propulsion Technology. With a focus on innovation, Christian continues to work on gas turbine transformation in aviation and energy with hydrogen technology since 2012. International research teams of DLR and gas turbine suppliers working on a high technical readiness level towards climate-compatible Propulsion and Energy Supply.
The research team of DLR led by Christian was awarded for Rolls-Royce Germany Innovation Award 2025 for the demonstration of endoscopic measurement technology in real flying combustion technology on based ground conditions. Based on the national hydrogen strategy the team around Christian is developing cryogenic H2 pump technology for aviation and NH3 GT combustion technology for maritime energy carrier in an international context.
