Dr. Matthias Meyer is a seasoned expert in corporate venturing and innovation strategy. As the founder and Managing Director of Wirkfeld, a boutique consultancy specializing in venture-driven growth, he empowers executives and organizations to unlock the full potential of startups—from venture strategy development and Venture Client model implementation to startup acquisition.

Previously, Dr. Meyer co-founded 27pilots, where he served as Managing Director and led Venture Client operations for global corporations such as BMW, BSH, Holcim, and CAF. He is the inventor of the Venture Client model, which he pioneered at BMW, establishing the BMW Startup Garage, the world’s first Venture Client unit.

His background includes various strategic and innovation leadership roles at BMW R&D, where he successfully led high-impact innovation projects from ideation to market launch and shaped the company’s open innovation and innovation management practices.

Dr. Meyer holds a PhD in Safety Engineering from the University of Wuppertal and an MBA in Innovation and Business Creation from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In addition to his consulting work, he is an active startup investor and serves as an interim executive and advisor across the energy, mobility, education, and food sectors
