Stefan Herrig is head of the hydrogen office H2.NRW at the state agency for energy and climate protection NRW.Energy4Climate. H2.NRW is the state’s central point of contact for questions and support relating to hydrogen in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Prior to his work at NRW.Energy4Climate, Stefan was already intensively involved with the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy in NRW and its importance for the industrial transformation towards climate neutrality at the state initiative IN4climate.NRW. As a native of the Ruhr area, he is particularly interested in bringing climate protection and industry together.
He holds a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on energy and process engineering. Before working for the state of NRW, he was doing research on thermodynamic basics for CCS applications at Ruhr University Bochum and the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado.
