Jürgen Grönner began his career with Thyssengas in Duisburg, Germany. He was in charge of the underground gas storage facility in Xanten and later became head of the Technical Service Department. As of 2004, Jürgen assumed the role of vice president in various corporate functions within RWE Energy AG in Dortmund, Germany. 

He has been managing director of Westnetz in Dortmund since 2014. Furthermore, Jürgen serves as chairman of the distribution committee of the International Gas Union.

Jürgen holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Essen, Germany, and was subsequently a fellow of the European Union at the Von-Kármán-Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Brussels, Belgium.
